What is FlavourSmash?
FlavourSmash is a way of eating. A really healthy way of eating. In fact, it’s a really healthy way of eating that tastes absolutely fantastic. It’s also a way of losing weight and feeling on top of the world. Well, that’s the theory anyway.

I’ve decided to write this blog as an experiment really. I love cooking and I love eating, but I want to lose weight - I have a penchant for beer and pizza, and could do with trimming up. The other I day I discovered that if I get really healthy, fresh food and load it with intense and exciting flavours, the resulting meal is deeply satisfying, yet can be extremely low in fat and carbohydrate. So, I’ve been eating Flavour Smash style for about 4 weeks so far and I feel great, the amazing thing is I’ve lost 11lbs so far. The weight is dropping off, and I’m enjoying every meal so much it is unbelievable! I think I could be onto something here…

The premise is simple. Low fat, low carbohydrate, but maximum flavour and minimum cost. Really intense exciting flavours. This diet is probably not for you if you don’t like chilli, ginger, lemon and spices etc… but if you do, I think you’ll be amazed by how incredibly tasty you can make healthy eating.
I’ve had a run of trying different diets recently, low fat, Atkins, low GI. All work, but I get bored of the regime after a couple of weeks and let it slide. This is going to be different. The blog is an outlet for my culinary creativity, and a record of my progress with the diet. I really hope to provide some inspirational recipes to anyone who might be reading.
I’ve always loved cooking and so far I’ve really enjoyed turning my culinary creativity towards this project. Some of the food I’ve made so far has been so tasty I cannot believe that it’s so healthy. Go and try some of these recipes and let me know what you think, the flavour revolution starts now!
[UPDATE]
Three weeks in and I’ve already invented the ultimate fried chicken… I can now eat delicious KFC grade chicken with none of the fat whenever I want. click this link for the keys to fat free chicken glory. ‘The Tastiest Chicken Ever - Virtually Fat Free’

Just came across your post on the Guardian site. I’m trying to lose weight too!
So far I’ve lost 3 and a half stone, but have another stone and a half to shake off (and it’s stubborn like you wouldn’t believe!).
I started up my own food blog too recently, thought we could share some recipes?

Loving the quest for the ultimate SMASH! am following with great intent
Keep smashing it up!!
I think I’m going to like it here.
I’m looking forward to catching up and to reading new posts!
Tonight I’m going to rustle up some home burgers on floury buns, topped with roasted red pepper and rocket. Sweet potato chips with a dusting of paprika on the side… could this be a F.S??
I’ll let you know how it goes.
Keep up the good work
My good friend David Norris just introduced me to the concept of Flavour Smash. Genius. I’m going to give it a go…
Looks delicious.
Great BLOG!
Very impressed. Will definitely try somerecipes. Flavoursmash would make a good TV series - experimenting to find what works rather rather than just cooking, like your description of the fried chicken. More interesting if things sometimes don’t turn out.
flavour smash is the future!
Can you come cook at my house?? PUH-LEASSSSSE?!?!
Great job, it sounds like a great plan!!
Welcome to the Healthy You Challenge!
This site looks fantastic. I’m really excited about snooping around.
Yum. Sounds great - what time should I come over?
Seriously, anything we can do to keep our food interesting is going to help us, I think. Love the idea of the spice usage and will check back to learn more and get ideas.
Hi,
What a smashing idea! …. Its amazing that we work so hard to lose weight and its a shame we forget to season / spice up the diet food!!
I love Indian food and I make indian curry soups which have been helping me lose weight….and that way, I am not the odd one out when everyone else is eating too !!
Keep smashing….
I totally agree, healthy food DOES NOT mean boring!
